As you may be aware by now, I am also a keen deep Sea Angler who go's to sea in my fast fishing boat so there are occasion's when the weather condition's and tide permit me to venture out into the English Channel from my local harbour/port of Littlehampton to fish for Cod / Sea Bass / Whiting / Place / Black Bream / Pollock amongst other's to stock up my freezer and occasionally sell excess fish to Restaurant's and local Market's.

PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM
GIGANTEUM
Originating from Asia, the Giganteum poppy has the largest pods of all the poppy strains. A mix of round and elongated heads, medium – giant in size, they are very strong and come complete with seed. (Not drilled with seeds removed as is often the case with giant pods) The thick latex in the drying process creates the black patches and patterns. These round and elongated pods are truly beautiful, interesting and robust. They are sold without stems but can easily be wired and taped for amazing floral creations or arts and crafts projects. These giant heads are a stunning deep rich pink and deep red when in bloom.
Available in 0.5kg boxes or a packet of approx. 90g of the ‘Little Giants’ (small pods from the giganteum Strain.)
PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM DUTCH MAXI
These strong, robust dried poppy heads originating from the Netherlands, come on short stems and complete with seed. It is impossible to give an exact head count per 0.5kg box as the heads vary in size and weight.

SEEDS
Gardeners, why not grown your own! These Papaver Somniferum seeds have come from pods that have been grown naturally, without pesticides, herbicides or any us of preservatives.
Papaver Somniferum is quite an easy plant to grow. Ideally it should be planted in a fertilised garden bed with good drainage, but it will also grow in pots if given enough room for its roots. Seeds can be sown any time between September and April. If Winter frosts are the norm in your area, don't sow them until the very end of Winter, or the beginning of Spring, as seedlings from Autumn or Winter plantings may be killed by subsequent frosts. Scatter the seeds and cover with a very fine layer if earth. Water well until germination, keeping the earth moist. The seeds will germinate in about a week. Water very sparingly at first to prevent rot.
When they develop their small, lettuce-like leaves, begin watering freely again, and apply fertiliser every few waterings. Do not worry if they fall over, this is normal.
Poppies need space to grow, ideally about 30cm apart, but they will thrive on less if well fertilised. Thin the plants out so they have at least 15cm between each plant. Either simply remove all of the smallest plants, or if you wish to conserve your seedlings, carefully transplant them.
Poppies will flower for a fortnight or more. Then, their petals will drop, and slowly, their pods will begin to swell and ripen. They will begin to turn yellow, until eventually they are dry and yellow like straw.

15 grams, roughly 15,000 seeds. Very fast growing, some seed outlets sell this much sought after seed for over £1.50 for 30 seeds! This is a high yield, highly active seed with a height of approx. 3-4 foot in full sunlight. Beautiful pink coloured blooms.
